The Gigadesmodus is one of the biggest and strongest creatures you can get on the Lost Colony map. This massive bat is not something you will ever see roaming around the world. Instead, it is locked behind an endgame boss fight. In this ARK: Lost Colony Gigadesmodus guide, we will see where we can find and how to get a Gigadesmodus.
Gigadesmodus Guide – ARK: Lost Colony
You cannot tame a Gigadesmodus in the wild. The only way to get one is by defeating the Lost King, one of the main bosses on Lost Colony.
The Lost King rides a Gigadesmodus during the fight. Winning this fight rewards you with a Gigadesmodus egg, and there is no other way to obtain this creature. This mission is meant for late-game players, so don’t attempt it unless you are well geared and prepared.
To start the encounter with the boss, you need to go to the boss arena location at Lat: 18.5 Lon: 76.4. Make sure you meet the required level and item conditions to start the different boss fights.
The boss fight comes with three difficulty levels:
- Red-Handed Gamma: Min Survivor Level 55
- Red-Handed Beta: Min Survivor Level 70
- Red-Handed Alpha: Min Survivor Level 95
The difficulty you choose affects how dangerous the fight will be. The battle plays out like a mission, similar to Genesis-style encounters. You fight your way through the Lost King’s Castle. Progress is sometimes blocked until a certain number of enemies are killed. You will encounter NPCs, Aggressive dinosaurs, and Tough creatures such as Rock Elementals. On Alpha difficulty, enemies can reach level 300, so strong preparation is extremely important.
Lost King Battle & Rewards
Inside the throne room, you will fight The Lost King and The Lost Queen. Both of these fights happen one after the other. After winning, you will ascend and respawn on Lost Colony. A Gigadesmodus egg is added to your inventory. Its saddles become unlocked automatically.
The egg’s level you receive depends on the boss’s difficulty. Greater difficulty means a stronger hatchling. i.e., Alpha difficulty can give you a level 205 egg.
How To Raise Gigadesmodus
- Hatch the egg like any other creature
- You need to feed it raw meat
- It grows very large, so small bases may not have enough space
Stats and Abilities of Gigadesmodus
Your Gigadesmodus starts with very high melee damage and has a large health pool. When it eats corpses, it gains: Raw meat, Spoiled meat, and Blood packs. Eating also restores a small amount of its health.
Blood Sustenance (Passive Ability)
The Gigadesmodus has a powerful built-in effect:
- 15% of the damage it deals heals itself
- The rider also recovers 5% health
- This makes it extremely hard to kill in long fights
Because of this, it works very well for fighting the Lost Army and clearing enemies across the map. Some city zones force it to land, but it is still very strong on the ground.
Saddles
After unlocking the creature, you get access to:
- Standard Saddle
- Platform Saddle
Both fit the creature well and are unlocked from the boss fight.
