ARK: Lost Colony Boss Battle Guide – How to Defeat Lost King, Lost Queen

ARK: Lost Colony Boss Battle Guide

The Lost King Arena is more than just a boss fight. It is a full journey with multiple rooms, tough enemies, hidden paths, and long story cutscenes. Many players go in expecting a quick battle, but the arena is built to be explored from start to finish. In this ARK: Lost Colony Boss Battle Guide, we will present a complete walkthrough of the final boss battle arenas and tips on defeating the boss.

Lost Colony Boss Battle Guide – Lost King Arena

This is not a fast boss-kill guide or a best strategy guide. Instead, this is a full walkthrough of the Lost King Arena, covering the entire area from start to finish.

You will learn what difficulty modes exist, what you can bring inside, how each room works, which enemies appear where, and how the boss fights progress. This also explains environmental dangers, hidden lore rooms, encryption keys, cutscenes, and rewards.

Difficulty Modes & Time Limit

The Lost King Arena has three difficulty levels:

  • Red-Handed Gamma – Min Survivor Requirement: 55
  • Red-Handed Beta – Min Survivor Requirement: 70
  • Red-Handed Gamma – Min Survivor Requirement: 95

There is a time limit of around 57 minutes. If you move too slowly, you can fail even if you’re strong enough. Keeping momentum is important.

Dinos & Thralls

All dinos are allowed inside the arena. Large combat-mount dinos are included, and several different ones. Some rooms allow full dino usage, while others either restrict them or make them ineffective.

During testing, Osiden was used as the main combat mount, with Solwyn and Malwyn as support. Gunslinger Thrall was assigned to Malwyn, while Warden Thrall was assigned to Solwyn.

Thralls are allowed to enter, but they are very unreliable. Their AI often struggles, they fail to use abilities, get stuck on doors, or stop attacking completely. If you have the option, playing with real teammates is far more effective than relying on Thralls and dinos.

Entering the Lost King Arena in Lost Colony

The Gargoyle Hall

The arena begins with a large hall filled with statues. Once the fight starts, all Gargoyles come to life, and a total of 26 enemies must be defeated to open the gate.

This room becomes chaotic very quickly. In multiplayer, spreading out helps control the fight. On foot, this room is difficult, especially with basic weapons. With dinos, it becomes much more manageable.

One major threat here is the Rock Golem, which takes reduced damage and lasts much longer than the other enemies. Certain dinos handle it better than others.

Palace Entrance

After clearing the first room, you move toward the palace entrance. This area causes a lot of problems for AI companions. Thralls and dinos frequently get stuck, block doorways, or refuse to move forward.

Using cryopods to store dinos temporarily can save time and prevent frustration.

Osiden Chamber

The next major combat room contains enemy Osidens, which are extremely dangerous. Their ranged attacks deal massive damage and can kill players very quickly. They can use ball attack to capture and deal damage to you. You can see the room below:

Obsidian Chamber

Malwyn does not perform well here, and while the Tek Spear works, its damage is slow. Thralls contribute very little in this room.

Enemy NPCs in this area also use cryos and flamethrowers. Some of them can steal your Tek Spear, while others keep jumping backward, making it hard to hit them. These NPCs should be killed first because they control the fight and limit your movement.

Side Rooms

There are three side rooms connected to the palace area. Enter only if needed. Because there is too much chaos.

The first side room, which is shown below, contains enemies armed with rocket launchers.

Rocket Launchers Room

Inside, you must defeat a mini-boss with a very large health pool. Once defeated, you will get an override code, exit quickly, and move to the right side of the palace to collect the other part of the override code and master encryption key.

The second place is more dangerous, as shown below. You face a powerful Osiden boss, who is far stronger than previous enemies.

Obsiden Boss Room

Fighting it up close is risky. Keeping distance, using ranged attacks, and bringing dinos is recommended. The Tek Spear alone is not effective here. Malwyn can be useful due to its debuffs, and Osidens also work well.

The third side room contains enemies that use bolas and teleport. After defeating them, you obtain another code fragment. Bear traps are also present, so movement must be careful.

Once all fragments are collected, you return to the palace to find the encryption key.

Most of the threats in these areas are: Rocket launcher enemies, Snipers / Railgun users, Teleporting enemies, Cryo enemies, Bear traps, and Whips that can disarm you.

You should prioritize these enemies first:

  1. Cryo enemies (blind & disrupt movement)
  2. Whip users (steal weapons)
  3. Flamethrowers

Lore & Hidden Rooms

Throughout the palace, some rooms do not lead to combat but tell a story. These include prison cages, medical beds, dining halls, and other environmental details that hint at what happened in this place.

There is also a hidden explorer note located in a secret back room, shown below, near the final area.

Hidden Explorer Note

It is easy to miss, but worth grabbing for lore progression. This room is full of statue enemies. At a certain point, dinos can no longer be used, and combat switches fully to player weapons.

Museum Combat Section

The above section includes a museum-like room where you must fight a strong enemy that is easier than an Osiden but still dangerous. The good news is that this enemy can be stunned, making the Tek Spear very effective. After defeating him, you obtain the final encryption key, allowing you to decode the override system.

This part of the arena is one of the most frustrating due to enemies using whips, cryos, and flamethrowers, while constantly backing away.

Before the main boss, you enter a final combat zone that feels like a harder version of the first room you encounter. The room is shown below:

Final Combat Zone

Gargoyles return, along with Rock Drakes, Basilisks, Manas, Yutys, Desmodus, multiple Osidens, and Rock Golems. Rock Golems should always be killed first because they absorb massive amounts of damage and slow the fight down. You then need to go to the location as shown below to trigger a cutscene.

ARK: Lost Colony Boss Battle Guide

Before the final cutscene plays, every single player and tame must be present. If even one Thrall/Dino is left behind somewhere in the arena, the cutscene will not start. You must either bring them with you or kill them before proceeding.

Lost King Boss Fight

The Lost King fight is not one single phase but a repeating cycle. Each phase begins by destroying four pylons around the arena. Until these pylons are destroyed, the boss cannot take damage. These pylons are easy to destroy, but keep an eye on the boss who spawns dinos and throws something at you constantly.

Once the pylons are destroyed, the boss lands and becomes vulnerable. Damage can be dealt by hitting his feet or wings, and the Tek Spear works well here. The boss also spawns Cryos dinos that can steal your weapon, so kill them first.

Red crystals appear in the arena. Luring the boss into them weakens him and temporarily stops his attacks. However, these crystals can explode together, which can instantly kill players if they are caught nearby.

Each phase becomes harder. The boss regenerates, pylons respawn, and stronger enemies appear, including flying vampire-type enemies and more NPCs.

Eventually, after four phases and on the fifth and final phase, when the Lost King is defeated, a major cutscene plays, revealing the fall of the Lost King and the awakening of the Lost Queen.

Lost Queen – Final Battle in ARK: Lost Colony

After the cutscene, you obtain a purple spear, which functions like a powerful, upgraded Tek Spear. This weapon is required to damage the Lost Queen.

This fight also takes place in phases. During the fight, the Queen attempts to heal herself using red energy beams. These beams must be destroyed immediately. The fight progresses through multiple story-focused phases with dialogue, emotional moments, and increasing danger.

Standing on red elements during this fight is extremely dangerous and should always be avoided.

Rewards for Defeating the Final Boss in ARK: Lost Colony

After defeating the Lost Queen, you receive:

  • 100 Red Element
  • Lost King Trophy
  • Lost King Flag
  • Lost Queen Trophy
  • Lost Queen Flag

The Queen’s ending cutscene is currently bugged and does not fully play. However, a final post-boss cutscene still appears, showing the Codex being recovered and teasing future events. The story hints toward Edmund as the next major threat and ends with a familiar character returning.
