In Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven expansion world, players return to a world that looks cute on the surface but hides some truly punishing battles. This time, your journey leads you to help an ancient deity by stopping a twisted and lunatic scientist named Marchosias from spreading dissent across the land. She stands as one of the hardest bosses in the entire game. This Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven Marchosias Boss Guide details everything you should know to defeat her.
Marchosias Boss Battle Guide – Cult of the Lamb: Woolhaven
Marchosias is a long, three-phase boss encounter that grows more intense as the fight continues. Unlike some other major enemies, there is no dungeon leading up to her arena. You begin the fight right outside her room, where you are prompted to choose your weapon and curse before heading in.
The Sword, Flail, and Blunderbuss are strong options for weapons, especially because Marchosias frequently remains in lava during the fight. Being able to deal damage without standing too close can make survival much easier.
For curses, Divine Guardian gives brief invincibility, which can be lifesaving during the later stages of the game. Area-clearing curses like Touch of Ithaqua or Touch of Maelstrom also help by removing hazards. Once prepared, head up the stairs to begin the fight.

At the start of the battle, you should move in and begin attacking Marchosias’ main body. Watch her arms closely, as they give signals before she attacks. One of her most common moves is a claw swipe, where she briefly lifts an arm before striking forward. Rolling backward at the right moment easily avoids this.
She will also throw bombs into the arena that explode after a short delay. You can hit them and knock them back toward her for extra damage.
Another attack to watch for is marked by a large red arrow appearing on the ground. This signals that Marchosias is ready for a tentacle strike in a straight line. You can move to either side the moment the arrow appears to avoid taking damage. After losing a small portion of her health, the fight pauses briefly and transitions into the next phase.

In the second phase, Marchosias’ arms transform into tentacles, unlocking several new attacks. She now performs heavy slams aimed at your previous position, forcing you to stay mobile. Sometimes, one of her arms becomes covered in spikes, and she sweeps across the arena.
Shockwaves also become part of her attacks. She creates them by slamming the ground, and you will need to roll through them to stay safe. On top of this, she sometimes summons additional enemies, adding extra pressure.
She keeps using the attacks from phase one, and rot mounds start appearing more often. Watching her arms closely is the best way to survive, since nearly every move begins with an arm movement.
If you have a curse that hits a wide area, this is a good time to use it to clear rot and deal with summoned enemies. Staying toward the bottom of the arena can also reduce the risk of getting overwhelmed. Once her health drops to around one-third, the final phase begins.

The final phase is chaotic and overwhelming. Marchosias’ body becomes electrified, and her attacks become far more frequent. At this point, most of her danger comes from ranged attacks rather than close combat.
Early in the phase, she fires lasers that sweep across the arena. Staying close to her can actually help avoid these, as the beams travel across the middle and lower sections. She also fires targeted beams at your location, marked by a red circle with an X. When you see this, keep moving until the attack ends.
After dealing enough damage, both of her arms can be severed. When this happens, she begins releasing constant shockwave-producing bombs across the arena. These attacks barely stop, but their range is small enough that rolling through them is effective.
She will also rain rot from above, shown by small circles on the screen. This attack is best avoided by staying near the lower part of the arena and waiting for it to end. Her tentacle strikes also return, so keep watching for the red arrow warning.

This phase is less about dealing damage and more about staying alive. With so many attacks happening at once, being careful matters more than being aggressive. Avoid rushing in, focus on dodging, and damage the boss when you find openings. If you stay patient and protect yourself, Marchosias will eventually fall.
