The Outer Worlds 2 Companions Guide

In Outer Worlds 2, companions have abilities that can help you in combat and exploration, so keeping one of them by your side helps you a lot. Once you’ve recruited all of them, you’ll unlock the “One for All” achievement/trophy. Our The Outer Worlds 2 Companions Guide details everything that you need to know about Companions and how you can add them to your party in the game.

Companions Guide – The Outer Worlds 2

There is a total of six companions that you can recruit in The Outer Worlds 2. Two of them will be automatically unlocked, while the others will require you to complete certain quests and missions. Read on below to know how you can add them all to your party.

Niles

Niles is an Earth Directorate soldier who appears during the very first mission of the game. After you finish the mission and land on Paradise Island, he automatically becomes available.

He is a strong fighter who draws enemy attention away from you while dealing heavy damage. He also has a special Field Tinkering option that lets you access the Workbench menu anytime. His personal quest, “Pressing Cares,” becomes available automatically after you spend some time in Fairfield.

VALERIE

VALERIE is an Earth Directorate robot who also becomes your companion early in the introductory story after you reach Paradise Island.

In battle, she helps you by shooting healing syringes that restore your health and provide a damage reduction bonus. Her personal quest becomes available automatically after the starting quest, where she mentions that her Mod Kit is stored in the Lockbox section of the Incognito. You’ll need Advanced Decryption Keys to open it and upgrade her.

Inez

Inez is part of Auntie’s Choice’s Enhanced Soldier Division. You will first meet her in the Ministry of Accuracy, northwest of Fairfield, during the “A Refreshing Bit of News” side quest.

After speaking with her, she returns to Fairfield to speak with Milverstreet and ask Milverstreet to fix her graft. But Milverstreet refuses. Before leaving, she speaks with you and asks for your help. If you agree to help her fix her graft, she’ll join your crew, starting the “Better Than Nature” companion quest.

You can choose what graft to give her, which changes her companion ability: If you choose the Raptidon graft, it focuses on healing. And if you choose Crabble graft, it fires projectiles for attack.

Tristan

You will find Tristan, a Protectorate Arbiter, inside The 2nd Choice bar at Free Market Station. You will see him arguing with Barney “Bruiser” Bass about the location of the Information Broker.

You need to convince Barney to give Tristan a chance, and you will both travel to Golden Ridge on Dorado to investigate a refugee camp, starting the “Arbitrary Measures” side quest. After finishing the quest, you will have the option to let Tristan join your party.

Tristan’s combat ability allows him to charge into enemies, causing area damage and taunting them. He can also highlight points of interest while you explore, like the Observation Skill.

Marisol

Marisol is an agent of the Order of the Ascendant. You will meet her during the side mission, “Beginning at the Endpoint”, which is inside Zyranium Manufactory VII, Dorado. At first, she goes by the alias Initiate Alva, accused of serious crimes. After completing the quest and revealing her true identity, she will ask you to join your crew.

Marisol’s ability lets her stun enemies, and attacks on the enemies become guaranteed critical hits for a short time. She also gives extra information about enemies during combat when you use gadgets like Tactical Time Dilation.

Aza

Aza is an assassin from The Glorious Dawn. You will find her in the Decommissioned Autonomous Extractorium building on Dorado, which is overrun by Dawn enemies. After defeating them, head upstairs and unlock the door to meet her.

During your conversation with her, Aza explains that she was betrayed by the Dawn group. She’ll ask for your help, beginning “The Dawn of a Glorious Betrayal” companion quest.

She has two charges, which recharge faster than other companions. She uses explosive wrist-mounted gadgets to damage and stagger enemies, and she’s the stealthiest among all companions.
