During its EA Play Live 2021 event, EA revealed its new gothic fairytale-inspired action-adventure game Lost in Random. The title is being developed by the award-winning Swedish game studio Zoink. The game is slated for release on September 10, 2021, and it will arrive on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Origin and Steam.
Lost in Random is set in the Kingdom of Random where players will need to quickly learn how to tip the odds in their favor in a dark wonderland where only the brave survive. Before we jump into additional details, check out the official gameplay trailer for Lost in Random below:
The Kingdom of Random is ruled by a wicked queen and is divided into six shadowy realms where life is dictated by cursed black dice. Players jump in the shoes of Even and walk the land’s mysterious cobbled streets, meet different people living in the city and take on various quests in order to save her sister Odd from the evil queen’s clutches. On your journey, you will team up with Dicey, a small and strange living dice.

When we first started this project, we knew we wanted to create a fairytale that was a bit darker than what we’ve made in the past; we ended up drawing these different characters and concepts, but it wasn’t until this painting of a girl and her dice appeared that we knew there was something more to explore. A tricky aspect we had to deal with was determining what the gameplay would be like – we wanted the theme and gameplay to revolve around the dice but had to consider what was too random and what was just random enough. We feel it’s all grown very naturally out of that central idea
The Kingdom of Random is ruled by Random and this principle is deeply embedded in the game’s innovative gameplay as well. You will collect various coins that will enable Even to learn new attacks, abilities, and more. All of Even’s attacks and abilities come in handy during unique tactical combat as you will use Even’s slingshot to attack deadly enemies and knock off energy cubes that power Dicey. Once Dicey is fully charged, you can unleash the ultimate attack and freeze time altogether.
Pre-orders for Lost in Random are now live on select platforms before the game’s announced the release on September 10, 2021. Additional details about the game will be unveiled in the coming months.
