John Guide – Hood: Outlaws & Legends
Our Hood: Outlaws & Legends John Guide details everything that you need to know about playing with Tooke in Hood: Outlaws & Legends.
Character Overview
John is the biggest and the slowest character in Hood: Outlaws & Legends so this means that he compensates with his hits. He is a brawler and he loves to deal damage to his enemies with his powerful attacks. He has both light and heavy attacks and his heavy attacks, despite being a little slow, can absolutely pulverize your enemies. He can take hits even better than Tooke so he is the best tank in the game and loves close-combat combat.
Gear
John’s Gear is his Explosive Grenade that can kill enemies really quickly. This grenade is all about dealing explosive damage to your enemies and John uses it to kill groups of enemies quickly. It is perhaps the best Gear in the game for crowd control and is even more powerful than Robin’s explosive arrow. You can also use it more strategically in various scenarios much easily.
Ability
John has Wraith as his ability with which his damage can be increased. This is an active ability and you can only use it as long as John’s ability meter is full. Once activated, John will get a damage boost and in return, all the damage he takes from his enemies is also reduced making it perfect for tanking enemies.
Trait
John’s Resolute trait allows him to lift Portcullis Gates which cannot be lifted by anyone else. These gates open up shortcuts and create new opportunities for completing your heists easily in the game.
Best Perks of John
John has three slots for Perks with unique perks to equip in each of these slots. Depending on your playstyle, you can fine-tune John a little bit by equipping perks that suit your gameplay. However, according to us, the following perks work best with John.
| Perk | Slot | Description | Level Required |
| Dying Retaliation | Slot 1 | Increases the speed of your heavy attacks allowing you to land the most powerful attack much more quickly on your enemies. Also makes your parry stronger | Level 2 |
| Stable Tank/Cargo Carrier | Slot 2 | Stable Tank Increases Maximum Health and lowers stamina cost of blocking. Cargo Carrier increases your speed of carrying and winching the chest but also reduces your capture point capture speed. | Stable Tank – Level 3
Cargo Carrier – Level 10 |
| Enraged Infusion | Slot 3 | This perk increases the damage dealt by your light attacks however assassinations do not contribute much to your Ability meter with this perk equipped | Level 4 |
Tips and Tricks for Playing with John
- John can lay down his explosive grenade as a trap while running from enemies. Once your team is clear, the explosive grenade will explode in a powerful explosion killing all the enemies caught in its blast radius.
- You can also use John’s explosive grenade to block entrances and escape routes for your enemies as you get close to them and pulverize them with your powerful attacks.
- Combining your Explosive Grenade with the Wraith ability cooks up a really powerful killing recipe as you can block escape routes for your enemies, get in to deal massive damage and all damage you receive in return is reduced greatly. Combine them both when you can and watch as John takes down enemy after enemy easily.
- Always open up Portcullis gates in order to make shortcuts for getting the key and making sure that you keep the enemy team at bay by making your runs quick.
- Due to his sheer strength and brute force, John can also carry and winch the chests faster than anyone else on the team. Not only is he faster at both carrying and winching the chest but he is also much more resilient to taking damage and will not go down that easily in the game making him ideal for these heavy lifting tasks.
