Ultimate Games and Type The Name Studio have announced their brand new project Narco Tycoon inspired by franchises such as Breaking Bad and Narcos. Type The Name Studio is an indie developer from Poland who has developers from various well-reputed companies such as TopWare Interactive, Teyon, and Flying Wold Hog. At this point, the game is in an early development stage and the new trailer is only for demonstration purposes.

The game is an economic strategy game with a top-down 2D view and is set in a large American city and its suburbs. The game’s mood is pretty serious however is also includes dark humor so the game is clearly not for the week-hearted. The gameplay is planned to be very extensive and varied as players will be able to design and build drug factories from scratch, taking care of the smallest details of the production process.
The gameplay will also include managing the members of your drug organization, taking care of the proper distribution of your goods and products along fighting for market dominance and impunity. Research and development works will also play an important role in the expansion of your drug empire. Your main goal in the game will be to completely take over the drug businesses in the city by any means necessary.
Marcin Steliga, Lead Designer at Type The Name Studio said:
We will give the players a wide array of options and a lot of freedom in building their drug empire. We are developing a very extensive production system, with total freedom when it comes to room planning and equipment layout, but achieving a good quality of the product will require them to properly care for, among others, the right temperature, air quality etc. A similar rule will apply to the members of the organisation – each of them will be unique, and properly assigning jobs and tending to the needs of given characters will also be of vital importance. In the same way, for example when fighting for market domination, players will be employing various tactics – some solutions will be based purely on physical force, others will lean towards diplomacy and economy.

Narco Tycoon is an unusual strategy that will surprise the players not only with its subject matter, but also with its depth and scope. The gameplay itself will be somewhat similar to games like Prison Architect and RimWorld. When it comes to the mood and references to pop culture, Narco Tycoon will surely appeal to, among others, fans of such series as Breaking Bad and Narcos.
